Of all the Sky Bet sister sites, this is the one that does best at sticking to its originally intended purpose. It’s the only one of the Bonne Terre Limited sites not to dilute its purpose by offering slots or any other casino games. It’s deadly serious about its chosen purpose, though, and despite its fairly basic appearance, it has far more depth than most poker sites you might be able to name. Play your cards right (literally) at Sky Poker, and you could find yourself whisked off to Las Vegas to play in real big-money tournaments.

The top prizes at Sky Poker are off-limits to all but the best of the best poker players, but you don’t have to be an expert to start playing at Sky Poker. The site also operates the fairly well-renowned Sky Poker Academy, which is designed to accommodate those who’ve always wanted to learn how to play the game but have never taken the time to find out how. The technical story sometimes isn’t the full story, though. Other people would tell you that Sky Bet belongs to Sky Betting and Gaming, but that doesn’t paint the full picture either. The truth is that the brand belongs to Flutter Entertainment, which is one of the world’s biggest iGaming companies. Flutter Entertainment is, in fact, a colossus of a company born from the merger of Paddy Power and Betfair in September 2015. Bringing together two bands of such enormous size and repute would be enough for most iGaming companies but not for Flutter. They wanted to carry on getting bigger – and so they did.

Having brought together Betfair and Paddy Power, the next thing Flutter Entertainment did was buy out Draft, a fantasy sports betting company, in 2017. FanDuel, which was one of the biggest fantasy sports companies in the USA, was acquired in May 2018. From there, the weekly rewards you receive will depend on how much you bet per week. If you bet £20 or more per week on accumulators, you’ll get a weekly £5 free bet. There are no “top games” at Sky Bet. This isn’t one of those sports betting sites that mess around by introducing slots or casino games – it’s as serious about sports betting as serious gets. The sportsbook is the star of the show, and football gets more focus than any of the other sports on Sky Bet’s distinctive yellow and blue homepage. Given the brand’s association with football broadcasting on the Sky TV network and its sponsorship of all the professional divisions in England save for the Premier League, that makes sense. Horse racing is also a key point of focus at Sky Bet, though – and don’t forget you can always tweet Sky Bet and ask for a bet to be built if you can’t find what you’re looking for.

Trying to get customer support from Sky Bet is an ordeal. Finding contact options is a long process which involves clicking help, wading through the FAQ, confirming you still want more help, confirming you want to contact the site, and then finally seeing the list. Telephone support will be offered if there’s someone there to take your call, but the other options are live chat or social media chat assistance via Facebook or Twitter. Sky Bet is covered by the UK Gambling Commission licence that Bonne Terre Limited holds under account number 38178. It’s not a clean licence, though; in February 2022, Bonne Terre Limited was forced to pay a fine of £1.17m after an investigation revealed evidence that the company had sent marketing material to self-excluded customers and contacted other customers without their express consent.

Withdrawal Speed and Support

We have bad news if you want to use an e-wallet to make deposits to or withdrawals from Sky Bet – you can’t do it. The site is stuck in the past, and only works with debit cards transactions. That means you’ll have to use Maestro, Visa or Mastercard to withdraw. Sky Bet is a behemoth. This is one of the biggest sports betting sites in the country, and some would say it’s the outright biggest. There certainly isn’t one with greater visibility thanks to its sports sponsorships and promotions on Sky Television. You’ll find sportsbooks just as big in other places, though, and although some people will enjoy the sheer number of bonuses available at Sky Bet, others might find them confusing. We’re not in love with having to go digging to find customer assistance, and the lack of flexibility and choice when it comes to withdrawals is a surprise. Sky Bet will continue to be a massive brand no matter what we say here, but it could do a lot better.
